Tim Bitici on Women and Style

Paris is the fashion capital of the world, so it’s not surprising that Tim Bitici, today’s leading fashion stylist, claims that the best dressed women hail from that city. But style is a floating line of trend, personality and comfort. Yes, comfort. For most people, being comfortable has always meant that they had to give up style. This simply isn’t the case. According to Tim Bitici, just because something is comfortable, doesn’t automatically make it an enemy of style. This is good news for the women of the world because between work, kids and family, being uncomfortable throughout the day should never be an option.

Tim Bitici

The most important article of clothing a woman should consider when getting dressed, Tim states, is her top. It’s simply the most noticeable, and will grab the most attention. Creating a cool, carefree, effortless look, will automatically put you in-style. Femininity, second only to a woman’s eyes, are the first thing that men generally notice about a woman. Cool confidence, blended with femininity and knowing how to dress for your body type, is what makes a woman stylishly dressed. As for accessories, it’s always better to be subtle than to be over-the-top. Never over-accessorize, and never obsess too much while getting ready for the day or an event, it will be obvious in your demeanor and may come across as forced.

Some of Tim Bitici’s favorites include cashmere, and Prada. You can never go wrong when utilizing these two items in your wardrobe. The biggest mistake a woman can make is copying a trend note for note. Trends are better used as guidelines. Find a trend you like, and make it your own. One trend Tim Bitici is not fond of is when women pair a business suit with sneakers. It’s an inelegant blend of two modes of style (professional and casual) that simply doesn’t work.

Celebrities are known for their style, and the public is known for copying them. Tim Bitici is fond of the styles of Rihanna and Chloe Sevigny (best known for her roles in the TV shows Big Love and American Horror Story), because, Tim says, they make their own rules. And that’s what style should be; loose inspiration from someone you admire, taken ownership by you and what best expresses your personality.

Stylist Tim Bitici – Fashion Icon and Generous Philanthropist

For over a decade, Tim Bitici’s sense of style has been unparalleled in the fashion industry. He started as a fashion editor for Glamour Magazine, and today is known as one of the leading stylists of this era. But Tim Bitici doesn’t just have a passion for fashion, he’s also profusely generous. Every March, Tim raises money for multiple sclerosis. He raised $22,000 just on his own in 2013.

Tim Bitici

In the Hamptons, Tim is on the board of ACRIA – an acronym for AIDS Community Research Initiative of America. Every July he raises money for AIDS and ACRIA’s mission. His father owned a world-famous restaurant in Greenwich Village called the Minetta Tavern from the 1970’s to the 1990’s. His father has since changed locations and owns Fiorino Ristorante located in Summit, NJ. Every year, Tim throws an event at his father’s restaurant to help raise money for breast cancer.

Giving back to the community is important to Tim Bitici. His inspiration lies within people, cities, flea markets, even old movies. Through his styling career, he creates a more perfect image of what real life is, and his charity is another avenue for him to help foster a more perfect world for everyone. But people aren’t Tim Bitici’s only focus; he also donates his time to Animal Haven in New York City. He walks the dogs and helps find them shelters, and also takes them into his home when they need foster care.

When Tim isn’t holding charitable events or working as a “fashion guru” or “stylist to the stars,” he loves being at his house in Vermont to ski, especially around the holidays. His love of the outdoors is apparent in his chosen hobbies which include hiking, running and even cliff diving. But when he’s not feeling quite so adventurous or risky, he enjoys painting in his barn studio at his Vermont residence.

Tim Bitici’s passion and talent lie in making the world better. Whether it’s through the lens of a camera, or through money raised to help those in need, he takes his passion seriously. So seriously, in fact, some of his editorial work has been formatted museum-style, and exhibited for several months at a time at the Hotel Bourg Tibourg in Paris, and at the SoHo Grand Hotel in New York.

Tim Bitici – His Styled Sense of Fashion makes him a Wanted Man by Many Magazines

Tim Bitici knows good fashion like a wine connoisseur knows good wine. Since he was a teenager and working at his father’s restaurant, Minetta Tavern, he has been in love with fashion.  The artistic vibe of the restaurant’s surroundings is what drew him into the fashion world. His intensely strong work ethic combined with his innate sense of beauty and fashion took him from his first job as a stylist at Glamour Magazine, to become noticed, and desired, by other top fashion magazines.

Tim Bitici

During his time at Glamour Magazine, Tim traveled four times a month to domestic and international photo shoots. This would seal his favorite part of his job as a stylist – traveling en masse with the creative crew to a foreign location to create and capture beauty.

Currently, he is a contributing fashion editor for Vanity Fair Italy, L’Officiel, Glamour, and Oprah’s “O” Magazine, where he was named “Top Fashion Editor” and “Style Guru” by Refinery 29, an online fashion, style and beauty magazine. Some of the well-known photographers Tim Bitici has worked with include Sebastian Kim, Wayne Maser, Dan Martensen, Jamie Asaia and Yu Tsai.

With online shops thriving, eCommerce has reached an all-time high, as customer’s are just as likely to purchase goods online as they are from a brick and mortar store. Currently, Tim Bitici is the eCommerce stylist for esteemed online stores like Harrods, Nordstrom, Macy’s, J Crew, Amazon, MyHabit, ShopBop, Kenneth Cole, Henri Bendel and more.

For six years, Tim Bitici held the Fashion Art Director position for “A” Magazine based out of Italy. From 2004 through 2010, Tim art directed and styled major photo shoot productions that took place in-studio and on-location, domestically and world-wide. During that time he created, designed and orchestrated over 300 editorial fashion stories when he was also directly responsible for helping to launch the careers of some of today’s high-profile photographers and models. Most notably, “A” Magazine became Italy’s premier weekly fashion magazine by exceeding 250,000 subscribers after the completion of just one year in print.

Tim Bitici’s intrinsic sense of style and design has taken him to the heights of the fashion industry, working as a stylist with top models and famed photographers in exotic locales around the world, creating beauty all along the way.

Tim Bitici: Classic, Simply, Edgy

Known as the “Stylist to the Stars,” Tim Bitici has been in the fashion industry for over ten years and has made a truly remarkable name for himself. He has styled numerous celebrities, commercial photo shoots, advertising campaigns and editorials. He appeared in Oprah’s Favorite Things Christmas Issue as the top editor styling a ten page fashion story.

Tim Bitici

The fashion industry relies on Tim Bitici for his classic, chic, fresh iconic images that are styled – and never over-styled – to perfection. What makes his fashion and style genius apparent, is his ability to maintain brand identity through the lens of his own style sense. Tim lends his expertise to countless commercial photo shoots with subjects that vary in everything from Bridal, to Plus-Size.

When asked to describe himself, he answered in three words: Classic. Simple. Edgy. And this is exactly the spirit he exemplifies in his work with Vanity Fair Italy, L’Officiel, Glamour Magazine, O Magazine and many others. As fashion editor to these magazines, he has collaborated with such famed photographers as Ben Watts, Yu Tsai, Kelly Klein, Stewart Shining, Sebastian Kim and Dan Martensen.

Tim Bitici’s love for fashion grabbed him at an early age. Even at the age of 14, Tim knew that fashion would be his life, his love, and his life-long passion. While attending college at Pace University, he interned at Vanity Fair and Glamour Magazines, getting his fashion foot in the door. Now that his career has soared, he counts overseas editorial jobs among his favorite because he loves to travel with an entire crew all with one mission in mind - to create beauty.

Some of Tim Bitici’s most amazing shoots came during inclement weather, but, he reasons that a beautiful model should have an equally beautiful, if not turbulent, backdrop. He has shot in hurricanes in Hawaii and monsoons in Mexico. Because of the expertise of Tim and his crew, they always made it work, and created the beauty they knew they could.

Tim’s advice to up and coming stylists would be to expect a difficult road in the beginning. The stylist’s life is not always glamorous, despite how it might appear. However, if you’ve got the talent, and persistence, the best thing to do is assist, assist and assist some more, because there is so much to learn from working with a well-known stylist.

Tim Bitici – On Style

A native New Yorker, Tim Bitici knows style. He has been named “fashion expert” by Star Magazine, “fashion guru” by Racked, NY, and “top fashion editor” by Oprah Magazine. His sense of style and fashion has earned him the “favorite editor” title among countless magazines such as Glamour, Interview, O’Magazine, Flair, Vanity Fair-Italy, D-Magazine, etc.

Tim Bitici

Tim Bitici
takes his style inspiration from everywhere; city streets, flea markets in London, even old movies. He has successfully worked with such well-known celebrities as Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Rachel Weisz, and Uma Thurman, the latter two of which he styled for the Red Carpet.

When it comes to designers, Tim tends to admire the old school designers like Belgian fashion designers, Veronique Branquinho, and Martin Margiela. The more modern designers he admires include Public School and the Row because they are relatively new on the scene and each has their own unique, fresh voice.

To him, a woman should embody the effortless ease and confidence of having two things: good sex, and a good hairstylist. To help achieve this confidence, when getting ready in the morning, Tim Bitici suggests that a woman should pay close attention to her top, as it is the most noticeable item of clothing, not to over-accessorize, dress for her body type, and never over-obsess about what to wear. And despite what many people believe, comfort is not the enemy of style.

Working in the fashion industry for over ten years and being named “Stylist to the Stars” in Star Magazine, to be recognized as being the “most stylish person” Tim Bitici has ever seen must truly be an honor. In 2001, Tom Ford worked with Tim on a fragrance shoot for Carolyn Murphy. Tim Bitici describes Tom as oozing style that had a palpable effect on the room and was a combination of being cool and confident. The effect was derived not so much from what he wore, but how he wore it. While at the same time, his ex-assistant would be his candidate for “My Style” because of her cool, carefree, effortless confidence. The overwhelming theme when dissecting the essence of style is simple – maintaining an aura of cool, suave confidence, that steps out beyond what it is you wear.

Tim Bitici – Famous Fashion Stylist with No Regrets

Tim Bitici knows fashion. He knows creativity and what it means to be classy, chic and elegant. Style has always been in his blood. As a teenager, he felt that Vogue fed his soul more than food ever could. And it shows; his start in fashion was with an internship for Vanity Fair and Glamour magazines while attending Pace University. And, he says, it’s a hard road. Despite what people may think, it isn’t always glamorous, but if you feel you have talent, with hard work and dedication, you can reach the top.

Tim Bitici

And reach the top, he did. Currently he’s the E-commerce Contributing Stylist at Henri Bendel – Limited Brands in New York City. He styles and creates the on-set photo shoots from concept to completion. He’s also the new contributing fashion editor at Nylon Magazine. Nylon is an edgy magazine that accurately depicts New York City, matte and raw, rather than Hollywood-style gloss. Tim’s vision for this magazine is to mix high-end fashion with low-end fashion while keeping a cool street vibe.

For six full years, Tim Bitici was the Fashion and Art Director for “A” Magazine – a magazine he himself (along with his director and creative team) started up. It only took a year and “A” Magazine was Italy’s best selling Fashion Weekly and even today boasts 250,000 subscribers internationally. While with “A Magazine,” Tim directed and styled major photo shoots, both in the studio and on location worldwide. He was responsible for launching the careers of many high profile models and photographers. Some of these models include Agyness Deyn, Candice Swanepoel and Crystal Renn. Tim Bitici choreographed over 300 editorial fashion stories while working for “A Magazine.”

Tim Bitici

His impressive career has been a long, varied one filled with fashion successes and a long list of admirers in the fashion industry. Tim Bitici describes himself as classic, simple and edgy. He doesn’t give a whole lot of credence to role models in general because Tim follows the beat of his own drum. He believes that style isn’t taught, you’re just born with it and when you are, it can be felt by others like a living, breathing entity. Inspiration, however, is everywhere. Tim finds inspiration on city streets, London flea markets, and even old movies.

Tim Bitici is a fashion stylist with no regrets because he has followed his own path, and allows his own clear, stylized vision to set the standard for every one of his shoots.
