Tim Bitici – On Style

A native New Yorker, Tim Bitici knows style. He has been named “fashion expert” by Star Magazine, “fashion guru” by Racked, NY, and “top fashion editor” by Oprah Magazine. His sense of style and fashion has earned him the “favorite editor” title among countless magazines such as Glamour, Interview, O’Magazine, Flair, Vanity Fair-Italy, D-Magazine, etc.

Tim Bitici

Tim Bitici
takes his style inspiration from everywhere; city streets, flea markets in London, even old movies. He has successfully worked with such well-known celebrities as Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Rachel Weisz, and Uma Thurman, the latter two of which he styled for the Red Carpet.

When it comes to designers, Tim tends to admire the old school designers like Belgian fashion designers, Veronique Branquinho, and Martin Margiela. The more modern designers he admires include Public School and the Row because they are relatively new on the scene and each has their own unique, fresh voice.

To him, a woman should embody the effortless ease and confidence of having two things: good sex, and a good hairstylist. To help achieve this confidence, when getting ready in the morning, Tim Bitici suggests that a woman should pay close attention to her top, as it is the most noticeable item of clothing, not to over-accessorize, dress for her body type, and never over-obsess about what to wear. And despite what many people believe, comfort is not the enemy of style.

Working in the fashion industry for over ten years and being named “Stylist to the Stars” in Star Magazine, to be recognized as being the “most stylish person” Tim Bitici has ever seen must truly be an honor. In 2001, Tom Ford worked with Tim on a fragrance shoot for Carolyn Murphy. Tim Bitici describes Tom as oozing style that had a palpable effect on the room and was a combination of being cool and confident. The effect was derived not so much from what he wore, but how he wore it. While at the same time, his ex-assistant would be his candidate for “My Style” because of her cool, carefree, effortless confidence. The overwhelming theme when dissecting the essence of style is simple – maintaining an aura of cool, suave confidence, that steps out beyond what it is you wear.
